PAIA Manual

Threerae's manual in terms of section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA) — what records we hold, which are available, and how to request access.

The Promotion of Access to Information Act gives effect to the constitutional right of access to information. This manual sets out the categories of records held by Threerae and the procedure for requesting access to them. The full signed manual is available on request.

Information Officer

Requests under PAIA must be directed to Threerae's Information Officer. Contact details, together with our company registration number, are available on request using the details at the foot of this page. The Information Officer is responsible for deciding requests for access and for compliance with PAIA and POPIA.

Guide Published By The Information Regulator

The Information Regulator has published a guide on how to use PAIA. It is available from the Information Regulator of South Africa and explains the rights PAIA creates and how to exercise them. We will direct you to it on request.

Records Automatically Available

The following information is published on this website and requires no PAIA request: descriptions of our products and services, our privacy policy, our anti-money-laundering policy, our code of ethics and our contact details.

  • Provide sufficient detail to identify the record requested, the form of access required and your contact details
  • Identify the right you are seeking to exercise or protect, and explain why the record is required for that purpose
  • Pay the prescribed request fee where one applies. An access fee may also be payable for the time and materials involved in preparing the record

Grounds For Refusal

Access may be refused on the grounds set out in Chapter 4 of PAIA — including the mandatory protection of the privacy of a third party who is a natural person, the protection of commercial information of a third party or of Threerae, information supplied in confidence, and records privileged from production in legal proceedings. Where a request is refused you will be given written reasons and informed of your right to approach the Information Regulator or a court.

Remedies

If your request is refused, or you are dissatisfied with the decision or the fee charged, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa or apply to a court for appropriate relief.
