Platform 01 — Threerae

Microfinance and Fintech in South Africa

Expanding access to responsible finance for the individuals and small businesses the major lenders overlook — and building the technology that makes delivering it scalable. Registered under the National Credit Act.

The Platform

Access, Without Pretending Credit Is Harmless

Our Microfinance & Fintech platform does two things. It expands access to appropriate financial products for individuals, entrepreneurs and SMMEs who are underserved by the major lenders, and it uses technology to make delivering those products faster, cheaper and more consistent.

We are careful about how we talk about the first part. Widening access to credit is only a good thing if the credit is affordable, and the honest version of financial inclusion includes declining applications. Every product here sits on the same foundation: verified income, multi-bureau credit checks, an affordability assessment that can and does return a no, full written disclosure of cost before signing, and a collections approach that treats people with dignity when things go wrong.

To develop Threerae from a traditional financial-services operation into a technology-enabled financial-services platform capable of delivering and supporting scalable financial solutions.

Compliance

How We Lend

01

NCA Registered

Threerae is a registered credit provider in terms of the National Credit Act 34 of 2005, with the reporting and conduct obligations that registration carries.

02

Affordability Assessed

Verified income and multi-bureau credit checks assessed against existing obligations and reasonable living expenses. Reckless lending is prohibited and we treat that as a working constraint.

03

Fully Disclosed

A written pre-agreement quotation setting out every fee, the total repayable and the exact repayment date, before anything is signed.

04

Dignity-First Collections

A tiered reminder workflow using factual, non-shaming language. Clients who contact us early are met with options, not judgement.

05

POPIA Compliant

Personal information processed lawfully and for a stated purpose, as set out in our privacy policy.

06

Risk-Smart, Not Volume-Hungry

We would rather decline an application than write a loan that damages the client and our book. Underserved does not mean under-assessed.
