Salary Advance Loans in South Africa
A short-term advance of up to R5,000 against income you have already earned, repaid on your next payday. Registered under the National Credit Act, assessed for affordability, with every fee disclosed in writing before you sign.
What It Is
For A Timing Gap — Not For A Shortfall
Sometimes an expense lands before your salary does. A salary advance closes that specific gap: a short-term advance against income you have already earned or are contractually due to earn, repaid on your next payday rather than dragged out over months of instalments.
We are deliberate about what this product is not. It is not a way to cover a permanent shortfall between your income and your expenses — if that is the situation, more credit makes it worse, not better, and we will tell you so. Our affordability assessment exists to catch exactly that, and we will decline or reduce an application when the numbers say we should. That is what responsible lending means in practice, and it is why the National Credit Act requires it.
What it costs, stated plainly
Our salary advance carries a 5% fee per cycle. Before you sign anything you receive a written pre-agreement quotation setting out the full cost of credit — every fee, the total amount repayable and the exact repayment date. All charges fall within the limits prescribed by the National Credit Act. Nothing appears on your account that was not on that quotation.

Responsible Lending Is Not A Slogan Here
Threerae is a registered credit provider in terms of the National Credit Act 34 of 2005. That registration comes with obligations we take seriously rather than treat as paperwork.
Affordability assessment
We verify your income and check multiple credit bureaux, then assess what you can genuinely afford after your existing obligations and reasonable living expenses. Reckless lending is prohibited by the Act, and an assessment that exists only to be passed would not be an assessment.
Full disclosure before you commit
You see the total cost of credit, every fee and the exact repayment date in writing before you sign. You are entitled to that, and you should insist on it from any lender.
Difficulty is met with a conversation
If repayment is going to be a problem, contact us before the due date. Our collections approach is tiered and dignity-first. Calling early gives us options that disappear once an account has defaulted, and you will not be shamed for making that call.
Your data
Your personal information is processed in line with POPIA. Our privacy policy sets out what we collect, why, and who it is shared with.
Questions
Salary Advance FAQs
What is a salary advance loan?
A salary advance is a short-term loan against income you have already earned or are contractually due to earn, repaid on your next payday rather than over several months. It is designed for a genuine timing gap — an unexpected expense that lands before your salary does — and not as a substitute for ongoing income.
How much can I borrow?
Up to R5,000, with the actual amount determined by your affordability assessment rather than by what you ask for. We assess verified income against your existing obligations and reasonable living expenses, and we will offer less than you request if the full amount would leave you unable to meet your commitments. That is a requirement of the National Credit Act and it protects you.
What do I need to apply?
Your South African ID, recent bank statements, proof of address and a current salary advice or payslip. These let us verify your identity and income, which the National Credit Act requires before any credit is granted.
What does it cost?
Our salary advance carries a 5% fee per cycle. Before you sign anything, you receive a written pre-agreement quotation setting out the full cost of credit — every fee, the total repayable amount and the exact repayment date — and all charges fall within the limits prescribed by the National Credit Act. There are no charges that appear after signing.
How quickly is it paid out?
Our process is built to move from application to funding quickly once your documents are in and the affordability assessment is complete. Speed comes from streamlined verification, not from skipping checks — we do not shortcut the affordability assessment, because lending someone money they cannot repay helps nobody.
Will you check my credit record?
Yes. We check multiple credit bureaux and verify your income as part of the affordability assessment, and we report to the bureaux as a registered credit provider must. A credit record that is not perfect does not automatically disqualify you — we assess whether this specific advance is affordable for you now.
What happens if I cannot repay on time?
Contact us before the repayment date. Our collections approach is tiered and dignity-first, and an early conversation gives us room to work with you that we do not have once an account has already defaulted. You will never be shamed for calling us early.
